Making the most of a thriving global shipbuilding market, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding set new records for both operating revenue and profitability in the first six months of 2026.

Fuelled by the expansion of its core shipbuilding segment, the group generated operating revenue of RMB17.5bn in the reporting period, representing a year-on-year increase of 36.2%. Core shipbuilding activities accounted for approximately 94% of its total turnover.

Gross profit reached RMB6.3bn, climbing 42.8% year on year, while net profit stood at RMB5.4bn, a year-on-year increase of 28.4%.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding secured 38 new shipbuilding contracts in the first half of the year with a total value of $1.75bn, comprising 25 container ships, ten oil tankers, two gas carriers and one bulk carrier.

The group delivered a total of 27 new vessels in the first half of 2026, completing 47% of its full-year delivery target of 58 vessels. All ongoing newbuilding projects are progressing on schedule, with the group expecting to meet its full-year delivery target, it said.

As of June 30, the group held an orderbook of 256 vessels worth $22.4bn, with deliveries scheduled through to 2030. The portfolio covers a diversified range of vessel types dominated by container ships, including 151 container vessels, 41 oil tankers, 37 bulk carriers and 27 gas carriers of various specifications.

In the first half, China’s shipbuilding industry grew once again, hitting record highs across new orders received, total orders in hand, and completed shipbuilding output. Chinese shipyards dominate orders for bulk carriers, container ships and product tankers. Most major domestic shipbuilders have their production slots largely filled through to 2029-2030.

With the commissioning of Yangzijiang Hongyuan Shipyard and steady construction progress of Yangzijiang Hongda Shipyard, the group’s business mix and production capacity will be further expanded.
